Greene County High School art students traveled to Prairie City March 6 for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference Fine Art Festival and returned home with 21 blue ribbons. The students of Sarah Stott were judged Best of Class in eight of the nine categories they entered.
Students received blue ribbons as follows:
Pencil – Jayden Carstens (Best of Class)
Pen and Ink – Jayden Carstens (Best of Class)
Charcoal – Sophia Ausberger (Best of Class), and Maezie Holderby
Pastels – Lizzie Allen (Best of Class), and Sophia Ausberger, Louise Anselmo, Gailee Richter and Maizie Holderby
Oils – Faith Hankel (Best of Class), and Andrea Grundon, Skyler Salem, Madi Minnihan and Louise Anselmo
Watercolor – Faith Hankel
Mixed media – Lizzy Allen (Best of Class) and Sophia Ausberger
Printmaking – Louise Anselmo (Best of Class), Jay Ripperger and Sophia Ausberger;
Hand-built ceramics – Eliot Schilling (Best of Class)
“Congratulations to all the GCHS art students on their hard work this year,” teacher Stott said. “All the late nights and many hours spent perfecting their pieces was well worth it.”
